If you work in IT, you need to constantly scan the horizon for what's new. As a leader, you also need to keep your eye out for trends that impact your organization or your teams and to refresh your professional skills along the way.

60 Minute Strategic Plan - (John E. Johnson, Anne Marie Smith). This is a short read, but a great guide on how to quickly develop a strategic plan. Though the claim is you can complete a plan in 60 minutes, I don't think it's quite that simple. You have to put a fair amount of thought into your plan, but once you've considered the data (and read this book), you can probably knock out a good first draft of a strategic plan in an hour.
